Novelties

This week I explored new frontiers:
1. I applied for four different jobs at ASU (yes, I guess the financial doomfloggle is getting to me).
2. I rode my bicycle around the block. I haven't ridden it for at least five years. I can still do it.
3. I googled around to try and figure out what Arizona judges to vote to dump or keep. I've never done that before. I always turn in the ballot feeling guilty, knowing that there are probably horrid judges out there. I found a lefty blog and a righty blog with judge opinions and then googled around to find other odd bits of information. I ran out of steam before I reached the end of the list. I just left some blank, exhausted.

One of the jobs actually appealed to me, work in a lab that does genetic engineering on plants, keeping tissue cultures going, part-time. It's in the BioDesign building, which (oooooh!) has a security desk that calls people to come down and escort their visitors in. My evolution prof has his office in that building and told us what we had to do to get in to see him. He seemed to think it is worth the trouble to get to see the building. I hope I get an interview.

Two of the jobs are just library aide jobs, but heck, I like libraries. The fourth job I applied for is doing transcription of interviews for some kind of African-American Studies project. I can type, and it's just intrinsically interesting in a vague way.

I made myself sore last weekend and have been taking it easy all week, taking some stairs but not all of them, refusing one of Grumpy's 5am long walks. My previously bum knee is a little sore; not sure why. I do remember flinging it around once with muscles all loose and feeling that telltale "ping."

Grumpy aced his DeVry's advanced algebra course! He's feeling all proud -- me too. He's had most of the week off, between semesters for them, and has turned back into a sleeping slug. That's the part I don't like, plus I'm jealous.
