Doing nothing

I slept in my comfy clothes last night and still wear them. I had no shower this morning and barely ran a brush through my hair. The kitchen is a mess, and just about all my favorite clothes are in the dirty laundry pile. It's wonderful. I'm doing nothing all day. Classes finished, exams next week, Grumpy away at school battling pre-calculus, me alone, resting.

I spent the past week enjoying the company of both my sons and their partners, all of us in the same city at once most of the time, enjoying each other apart and together -- eating out, seeing films, driving way too much, talking; the two of them biking, me and the oldest birdwatching and hiking... It has been wonderful. We need to do that more often. In fact, we need to all live nearby so it's not so rare. I love being with them. And it is interesting to discover that I love it most when I'm with all of them together, all of us bouncing off each other, watching them finally knowing each other well and getting along so beautifully after such a long time when that wasn't happening because of distance and the youngest one always so wrapped up in his business of becoming himself. Thinking about it, I feel happy...

...and exhausted!
