I lost weight!
It's slow, but my new lifestyle seems to be paying off. I hardly ever nibble anything sweet. I've walked away from the hershey kisses a local restaurant leaves on the table with the check, and I never have dessert. I can't even remember when I last bought my favorite ice cream (which I can't spell). I have oatmeal for breakfast about four days a week, with walnuts and fresh or dried berries. I shy away from red meat and eat more fruit and salad with dark greens and multicolored veggies mixed in. I usually stop when I'm satisfied, and I no longer panic at a hunger pang. I bike and walk several times a week, though not every day.
I got on the scales this morning, after shunning it for several weeks, and saw a number I haven't seen in several years, which looked tiny and exciting even though it's really only about three pounds lighter than previous lows. It is definitely progress, and they say slow is the way to go. I feel like marching down the street with a banner.
This is sluggish semester break, with me sleeping late and reading or listening to a lot of NPR instead of doing anything active for most of the day. So, when school starts again, perhaps the trend will accelerate. Maybe one day I will be able to get my ass up in the air and do headstands again.
Only ten more days!
