Visiting Tulsa & dog park
The great advantage of Tulsa's dog park is the setting. Not that the dog park itself is anything special, but right next to it is a non-dog park with densely-leaved trees caressed into perpetual motion by (at this time of year) cooooooool breezes, a small lake, and curving paved walkways with a few leisurely strollers -- all this nicely devoid of screaming children. It is relaxing to be there. I miss green so much. The downside of being in Tulsa in May is lots of rainy days plus one major and one minor tornado episode only a couple of days apart. Hell, I'd forgotten all about tornadoes! They missed us, but came close enough for exciting hours watching the local TV weather folks having their glory time. I cheered for a demolished Love's until they mentioned the injured people.
Lady and Eddie (cousin K's dog) had one big fight but otherwise get along fine. But Lady has humiliated me by peeing on the carpet a few times and one horrifying poop. Damn. These were all when she was out of my sight, so now I will have to keep her in view at all times. The first times, she was off in the front living room where she tries to keep her eye on the cat. That was far enough away to be synonymous with "outside"?? Then several days of good behaviour after we decided to close off that area to her, so I relaxed. But this morning I slept until 11, and my considerate cousin brought Lady out of the bedroom to let me sleep. I'll bet she regrets it now! Lady had already been outside & peed four times, but she peed on the carpet anyhow. I'll just have to get up with Lady from now on. Is this separation anxiety? Bummer. I have a pet leech.
The dog-cat interactions have been quite a show. The cat is used to dogs, but Lady (as far as I know) has never been close-up to a cat before. She was catatonic in his presence for a few days. Now they have moved to direct physical contact. Lady is like a kid in a candy shop, especially when she gets to sniff cat ass.
